Getting started

How do I pair two devices?

Open Fling on both devices and keep them close together. On one of them, open Devices, tap the other device under Other Devices, and confirm that both screens show the same code. You only need to pair once.

How do I fling something?

On your iPhone, tap the + button and choose what to send: a photo or video, a file, text, a contact or what’s on your clipboard. Then point your iPhone at the device you want to send to and flick your wrist toward it in one quick motion. It shows up on the other device a moment later.

Which devices can receive?

iPhone, iPad and Mac can all receive. Each device needs Fling installed and needs to be paired with the device sending.

Receiving

Does Fling need to be open to receive?

On Mac, no. Fling lives in the menu bar and receives anytime your Mac is awake, and it lets you know with a notification. On iPhone and iPad, keep Fling open on the receiving device.

Where do things I receive go?

They appear on screen right away. From there you can save, share or copy them, and they stay in your recents so you can find them later. Turn on Automatically save in Settings to save photos and videos to Photos and files to the folder you choose.

Can links open automatically?

Yes. Turn on Automatically open links in Settings and links you receive open right in their app, like a video opening in YouTube.

Troubleshooting

My iPhone says "No devices nearby"

Nothing happens when I fling

Use a quick, short motion toward the device. If several paired devices are nearby, Fling sends to the closest one, so move a little closer to the device you want.

Receiving stopped on my Mac

Make sure Fling is allowed to run in the background in System Settings, under General, then Login Items & Extensions. Opening Fling once also restarts it.
